I hope that everyone has had a safe, and fun summer. I know summer is not long enough, and classes will begin again in only a few short weeks. It was a busy summer for me and my new wife. We were married May 31^st in Elburn Illinois, at the Fishermen's Inn. The rest of the summer was filled with summer classes, and lots of work for both of us as she finishes her Masters. A couple that we are friends with welcomed a healthy, beautiful baby girl into the world. My wife and I spent many evenings at their house helping to feed, and rock her while they caught up on some much needed rest! As busy as that may have kept us we have a lot more work ahead of us in the next semester.

The fall semester will see IIE continuing to expand, and recruit more members. We are planning a social event with the ISYE department that will have food, music, and sports. This will allow students and faculty to interact, and connect with each other on a more personal level. I hope that we get a good student turn out, and I know that everyone involved is really looking forward to it. We also have had an offer from Nestle to help us with our fall fund raising activity. We hope to start that early this year so that we can have sufficient time for the planning, and execution of our event. The ultimate goal is to raise enough money to send several members of IIE to the national event. There they will be able to meet, and interact with other students, and professionals in industry.

 Keep your eyes out for signs and posters advertising our activities this fall, we hope to have guest speakers and social events throughout the semester. We also will be in charge of the departments banquet near the end of the semester.
